RULES OF POND HOCKEYJul 29, 2010, 9:31 pm
Calgary Pond Hockey Rules and Play – August 2010 1. Periods will be 3 x 17 minutes runtime 2. Teams will get a 3 minute warm-up 3. The puck can hit almost anywhere in the arena to remain in play 4. The only situations where the ref will stop the play is as follows: o If someone is hurt (ref’s discretion) o Offsides o High stick o Penalty o End of period o Goalie covers puck 5. Full hockey equipment must be worn; shoulder pads are optional. Face shield/mask are not mandatory, but strongly recommended. CSA approved helmets must be worn 6. The teams will change ends after every period 7. Penalties are penalty shots, unless more sever penalties are called 8. If both sides take a penalty at same time, both sit in the penalty box for the duration of 3 minutes, and there will be no penalty shot 9. When a goal is scored, the team that scored must yield the center redline for the other team. The team that was scored on, must have the puck, not the player cross the center redline first. If the player crosses 1st, the whistle will blow and the possession of the puck will go to the other team. 10. After a goal, the puck must clear in a timely manner or there may be a delay of game penalty (this will prevent a team stalling at the end to run down the clock if it is a close game—since the other team is not allowed to cross) 11. When the goalie covers the puck and the whistle is blown, the attacking team must “Tag Up” at the first blue line before they can enter the zone. Every player from the attacking team must “Tag Up” otherwise it will be deemed as an offside and the whistle will be blown 12. A tie is a tie, unless in playoffs. In playoffs, 2 shooters will be selected by the captains from both teams. If the game is still tied after that, 1 shooter from each team will be selected. You “MUST” use your full roster, excluding the goalie, before you can use the same player again 13. If there is a tie in regular season standings, the tie will be broken in this order o Team total penalty minutes (least amount of) o Goals against o Goals for o Coin Toss 14. A team consists of 14 players and 1 goalie, MAX! 15. You can have no less than 4 players and a goalie. You can have no more than 9 players and a goalie, at any given game 16. This is a full slap shot league, no body checking 17. A player must play in 3 regular season games minimum to be eligible for playoffs/all star game 18. If your team shows up short or without a goaltender, a $35.00 fine will be given to that team. Also, a game misconduct penalty will be added to the team captain’s total. Rent-agoalie, is $35, if you give them notice. I will also have a goalie list on the site so that you can email possible goaltenders. 19. Games/icetimes will not be cancelled, and new icetimes will not be booked, nor accepted if you take it upon yourself to book. We have booked a designated amount of slots and do not have the time nor the manpower to customize a schedule for each team. If you need to reschedule a game, it is up to the team captain to get agreeance from all the 3 other teams in will involve in a switch. There is a form you must request and have all the teams involved sign in agreement with the change. 20. Absolutely no alcohol in dressing rooms, in the arena, or parking lot. If caught, automatic team expulsion---no reviews. Team captain is responsible to enforce this rule.
Most penalties are explained in this chart. If you want to appeal your penalty or suspension, there is a $25 appeal process. This means
if you do not like the call, or you believe you were judged unfairly, you can be heard. The $25 can be submitted by cheque, making it payable to The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta (you will not get a tax receipt). Any vulgar, or harsh language and you will be immediately thrown out, Please respect the rules, as they are set. Any minor penalty is a penalty shot and 2 minutes added to offender's total. Any game misconduct or unsportsmanlike conduct is a 2 and a 10 added to the offender's total. Any players in a fight will be ejected from the league.

CPHL 2010 Waivers/Rosters
1. Only players that have signed waivers and are on the roster may play. 2. You may not borrow any players from any team in this league, but you can borrow a goalie. If you are caught using players from other teams or put them under other names, the captain from that team will receive a 2 game suspension 3. If an unrostered/unwaivered player is caught playing, the captain of that team will receive a 2 game suspension, so make sure your players are registered. 4. “C”s and “A”s must be displayed on team jerseys. 1 captain, 2 assistants are the only players that can talk to the refs. If a player is caught talking to ref without a “C” or “A” on his jersey, he will be dismissed from the game, but can play in the next game. 2 and 10 will be added to his time. If a team does not have a “C” or an “A”, a penalty will be given to the team captain until this is done. Meaning—he sits in the penalty box, until letters are applied to the jerseys.
