C.P.H.L. Rules - NOV. 2011
**Roster with spares list must be submitted before season begins**
1. Periods will be 3 x 17 minutes straight time
2. Teams will get a 3 minute warm-up
3. The puck can hit almost anywhere in the arena and remain in play
4. The only situations where the ref will stop the play are:
- · If someone is hurt (ref’s discretion)
- · Offside
- · High stick
- · Penalty
- · End of period
- · Goalie covers puck
5. CSA approved hockey equipment must be worn; shoulder pads are strongly recommended. Face shield/mask are not mandatory, but strongly recommended. CSA approved helmets must be worn. Players are REQUIRED to have a number on their jersey; and this number cannot be a duplicate of another teammate.
6. The teams will change ends after every period
7. Penalties are penalty shots, unless more sever penalties are called
8. If players from both sides take a penalty at same time, both sit in the penalty box for the duration of 3 minutes, with no penalty shots (game will then be 3 on 3) and both can return to ice upon completion of the 3 minutes. Players doing this twice in a game will be ejected council review
9. When a goal is scored, the team that scored must yield the center redline for the other team. The team that was scored upon must have the puck, not the player cross the center red line first. If the player crosses 1st, the whistle will blow and the possession of the puck will go to the other team.
10. After a goal, the puck must clear in a timely manner or there may be a delay of game penalty (this will prevent a team stalling at the end to run down the clock if it is a close game—since the other team is not allowed to cross)
11. When the goalie covers the puck and the whistle is blown, the attacking team must “Tag Up” at the first blue line before they can enter the zone. Every player from the attacking team must “Tag Up” otherwise it will be deemed as an offside and the whistle will be blown
12. A tie is a tie, unless in playoffs. In playoffs, 2 shooters will be selected by the captains from both teams. If the game is still tied after that, 1 shooter from each team will be selected by their captain. You “MUST” use your full roster, excluding the goalie, before you can use the same player again.
13. If there is a tie in regular season standings, the tie will be broken in this order
- · Team total penalty minutes (least amount of)
- · Goals against
- · Goals for
- · HEAD TO HEAD MEETING
14. A team consists of 15 players and 1 goalie, MAX!
15. You can have no less than 4 players and a goalie. You can have no more than 10 players and a goalie, at any given game
16. This is a full slap shot league, no body checking
17. A player must play in a minimum of 3 regular season games to be eligible for playoffs/all star game

19. Games/ice times will not be cancelled, and new ice times will not be booked, nor accepted, if you take it upon yourself to book. We have booked a designated amount of slots and do not have the time nor the manpower to customize a schedule for each team. If you need to reschedule a game, it is up to the team captain to get an agreement from all the 3 other teams in will involve in a switch. There is a form you must request and have all the teams involved sign in agreement with the change.
20. Absolutely no alcohol in dressing rooms, in the arena, or parking lot. If a team is caught, an automatic team expulsion will be invoked with no reviews. All Team captains are responsible to enforce this rule.
21. Players receiving a game misconduct must leave the ice area immediately, and go to their dressing room. Players that continue to harass the officials after being ejected or refuse to leave the rink area will be expelled from the league.
22. There will be no appeals, decision by council is FINAL. Any vulgar or harsh language and you will be immediately thrown out. Please respect the rules, as they are set. (This has been enforced in a previous session! Our league almost lost an entire permit of months of ice because a team was swearing off ice in front of children)
23. Any minor penalty is a penalty shot and 2 minutes added to offender's/team total. After 3 minor penalties within the same game, you must leave the ice. If you are ejected from the game for any other reason (Major penalty), then 10 penalty minutes will be added to the team total. Any players in a fight will be ejected from the league.
24. The team penalty total allowed is 60, and rosters are frozen. There are 2 options:
A) The team must begin removing player(s) from the roster. This will continue for duration of season each time a team hits 60. For any player removed, their personal amount of penalty minutes will be deducted from the team total. (There will be no replacing removed player(s) on roster). Rosters are final, so make sure you have everyone, including spares on the original list).
B) Pay a $100 fine for reaching the 60 minute mark, THEN, $100 additional for every 6 minute increment past that.THESE FINES WILL BE PAID BEFORE NEXT GAME [CASH] TO SCOREKEEPER OR GAME WILL NOT BE PLAYED AND A FORFEIT GAME WILL OCCUR
***Please note---a team cannot use both options, which ever option is chosen is the one that has to be adhered to for the duration of the season***

CPHL Rosters
1. You may not borrow players from any team in this league, but you can borrow a goalie. If you are caught using players from other teams or put them under other names, the captain from that team will receive a 2 game suspension
2. If an ‘un’rostered player is caught playing, the captain of that team will receive a 2 game suspension, so make sure your players are named on your original roster.
4. Verbal abuse of League officials will not be tolerated with offenders being ejected from the current game and will be under league review.
5. “C”s must be displayed on the jersey of the captain or ‘acting’ captain. Only the player with the ‘C’ can address the Referee on behalf of the team. If a not captained player is caught verbally abusing a referee, they will be dismissed from the game 10 min will be added to team penalty totals. Teams abusing a referee or an off ice official will be assessed a bench minor. If the abuse continues then a game forfeiture will take place.
If the ‘C’ is not displayed during game play, then the other team gets to take a penalty shot. Please get all your players/spares to read this. Get everyone to sign the back of the rules, print and sign.
This must be handed in to scorekeeper before your first game starts. All remainder of money must be paid by the team for league fees before start of your first game.
*Reminder- rosters CAN behanded in before fourth regular season game, but we will also use scoresheet from your games,as soon as you hit 15 players your roster is frozen.
Rosters will be frozen after your sixth game.does not matter how many you have after the sixth game, your roster will be frozen with the amount you have. If a player gets hurt during the season, your roster is still frozen, but you can use any of your spares.any games after the sixth game where players are added to roster or on scoresheet will result in the team getting 25 minutes added to their team totals or pay a $100 fine, your choice.but if it happens again ,it will be 50 minutes added to your team penalty minutes ,no choice.the player that you did bring out cannot continue to play because he was not on the original roster.if this is the case above, your team will have to bring your driver's licences to all remaining games in the season including playoffs.
remember it is the full season for penalty minutes, this includes playoffs.
Cheers and have a great season, have some fun.
